Sturbridge – Marjorie (Marj) A. Beal, age 71, of Sturbridge, MA and formerly of Warwick, RI passed away peacefully at home on July 31st surrounded by her family and her beloved cat, Kitty, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Providence, RI she was the youngest daughter to the late T. Franklin and Harriet (Storin) Beal. Marjorie was a graduate of Seekonk, MA High School, class of 1969 and Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing in 1972.
Marj worked at RI Hospital from 1972 until 2004 as an operating room nurse and then worked in corporate compliance until moving to UMASS Memorial where she worked until she retired as the Chief Compliance Officer in 2017.
Marj was detail oriented and was always working to improve herself or her house to help her family. She enjoyed spending time doing house repairs, working in the yard, doing puzzles and spending time with her family playing cards, making popcorn or going on adventures.
She was the loving mother of Kerry Graves (Robarge) and her husband Kevin of Medway, MA and Melissa Chelotti (Robarge) and her husband Michael of Bellingham, MA. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Connor Graves, Travis and Carter Chelotti; her sister Elaine Shabazian of Orleans; her best friend Claire Wilcox of Narragansett, RI; and 8 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother: John Bruce Beal and her grandson: Jacob Chelotti.
Calling hours for Marjorie will be held on: Tuesday, August 9th from 4-7 PM at Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford.
A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, August 10th at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 5 East Main Street, Milford.at 10 A.M. Interment Hopedale Village Cemetery.
