Posted

LAURA A. MARTIN-HODGE, 67, of Fort Worth, TX, returned home to Jesus on May 7, 2023 at VITAS Hospice Center in Carrollton, TX after a short but aggressive illness.  She was the wife of Richard Hodge, Jr. for the past 12 years.

She was born in Providence, RI, the second of 8 children, to Roger and Blanche (Paquin) Martin.

Laura graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1973, and she would have been at her 50th class reunion this June.  Laura had a passion for music.  She was first chair for flute in high school; she was a lead soprano with the Sweet Adelines, a barbershop quartet group in Warwick, for many years; she sang in the choir at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kingston, RI and later at Calvary Chapel in Fort Worth.  Laura had a wonderful gift of gab and loved to hug everyone. Laura was a very passionate Boston Red Sox fan, and she loved her Patriots, especially Gronk!  She moved to Texas in 2012 but remained a true Rhode Islander at heart.

Laura resided in Warwick then later moved to Narragansett from 1993 to 2006 as she raised her 3 children, of whom she was always so proud.  She worked for Fidelity Investments in Smithfield from 2001 to 2012, when she was promoted to the new Westlake, TX Fidelity call center.  She retired in 2016.

She was predeceased by her parents and her first husband, Edward J. Bannon, Jr.  She was the loving mother of Bryan Bannon (Erinn) of Andover, MA, Alison Bannon and Krissy Marchetti (Davidb) of Warwick; Memere of Tara, Caleb, Brielle, and Rowan; sister of Denise Cameron, Ray Martin (Maggie), Rick Martin (Cecilia), Annemarie Lambert, Jeanne Hormuth (Carl), Paul Martin (Gloria) and Nicole Wilcox.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service to be held at a future date.  Contact bryanbannon@gmail.com for further details.
