Mayor Frank Picozzi has been invited to attend the Norwood Neighborhood Association meeting on Wednesday, October 27, at 7:00 pm, at the Norwood Boys & Girls Club on 43 Frederick Street. The attendance Covit-19 protocols for the B&G’s Club include no face mask necessary if you are vaccinated and recommend wearing a mask if you are not.

Municipal retirees meet Oct. 27

The Warwick Municipal Retirees Association will meet October 27th at the Pilgrim Senior Center at 10:30 a.m. The association invites retirees to set an hour aside and join them for coffee and important information. Meetings for November and December have been cancelled but the association is planning a Christmas Luncheon. Invitations will be sent out or refer to the website: www.warwickretirees.com.

Equal Means Equal

The showing of the award-winning and New York Times Critics Pick documentary, Equal Means Equa>, will take place at the Warwick Library at 5 p.m. on November 8th. Sponsored by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Rhode Island, the film is a groundbreaking exploration of gender inequality in the USA, featuring top women’s rights activists and leaders. A brutal expose of a broken system, the film re-ignites the dialogue on full equality and explains why the Equal Rights Amendment is needed. A brief discussion will take place after the showing of the film.

OSCIL virtual workshop

Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) will be holding a virtual “Lunch and Learn” Workshop via Zoom Wednesday, October 27th at 12 noon. The topic is “Assistive Technology for those with Visual Impairments.” Stephen DelTatto of Silver Lining Technologies will be the presenter. Silver Lining specializes in accessible technologies for those with low vision, blindness and cognitive impairments. DelTatto will discuss and demonstrate equipment and devices that may help preserve your independence. He will be available to answer any questions you may have. On the tracks to a train show

Rhode Island Model Train Expo sponsored by the Little Rhody Division of the National Model Railroad Association will be held Sunday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Guy L. Lefebvre Community Center, 1277 Main St., Coventry. The show features operating layouts in N, HO, O and G scales. There will be select vendor tables. Tickets are $5 for adults and children under 12 and Scouts in uniform free. There is a $20 maximum per family.

Pumpkin patch open

St. Mark’s Church Annual Pumpkin Patch on West Shore Road is now open through Oct. 31. Hours are Saturday and Sundays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekdays the patch is open from 12-6 p.m. and closed on Thursdays. Stop by to get your pumpkins, take pictures, and support the ministries of St. Mark’s. 10 percent of proceeds will be donated to the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center.

Pumpkin spooktacular

The Conimicut village Pumpkin Spooktacluar is back this year. The event, Saturday, Oct. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Donovan Park in the village center, features home carved pumpkins. Open to all ages, people are asked to drop off their works of art from 3 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 23. They can pick them back up at Friends Way at 8 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian, Conimicut Village Association, Morris Farm, Riverview Association, Sunbelt Rentals and Friends Way.

Norwood Neighborhood Fall Festival

Enjoy hot cider, crafts, music and more on Oct. 23rd from 1 – 4 p.m., at the Norwood Field behind the Boys and Girls Club at 42 Frederick St. in Warwick. Christmas Village Bazaar

Asbury United Methodist  Church will be hosting a Christmasv Village Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 550vFair Street. The event will feature the church’s famous Swedish coffee bread, vintage jewelry and antiques, themed gift baskets, homemade crafts galore, a cookie walk, baked delights and other yummies,freshly made soups to-go (vegetarian options), Christmas decor and more. Spooky path at Sand Pond

The Save Sand Pond group will be hosting a spooky path, a Sand Pond family event on Saturday, Oct. 23. The event is from 6 to 8 p.m. and is $5 per family. The entrance will be at the intersection of Sand Pond Road and Puritan Drive. Attendees will be able to travel the haunted woods along the banks of Sand Pond. Goodies will be passed out along the way.

Pumpkin walk is back

Grab and go meal

Asbury United Methodist Church and Lakewood Baptist Church will be helping to feed the community by offering a monthly grab and go meal site located at Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Avenue in Warwick. The dates for pick up are Oct. 23, Nov. 20 and Dec. 11. It will take place from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

Wednesday yoga at library

Fine tune your yoga practice or give yoga a try with a Gentle Yoga class at Warwick Public Library on Wednesdays, October 6, 13, 20 & 27 at 7 p.m. Yoga instructor Linda Morse will guide you through essential

18th Howlween Party

Join us for a wicked good time at our 18th annual Howlween Party on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 475 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Tickets cost $20 per person (or zombie!) and include dinner. There will be a cash bar. Enjoy dancing with music provided by a DJ, raffles and costume contest prizes. Citizenship prep classes at WPL

Prepare for the U.S. Naturalization Interview with Citizen Preparation classes at the Warwick Public Library. Practice citizenship vocabulary, learn the necessary civics content, and work on interview skills using the N-400 application form. Looking for a new hobby this fall? Learn how you can start, maintain, and care for a honeybee colony by taking this online course. Whether you are brand new to beekeeping or have a few years of apiary experience, you’ll gain valuable insights to further your beekeeping hobby or business with this expert led class. Bee-ginner’s Beekeeping: The Basics of Apiculture will run from Nov. 1-15. The self-paced course takes approximately 14 hours to move through, and participants will have 2 weeks to complete the work at their own pace. Meals on Wheels is in need of volunteers

Meals on Wheels of RI is in immediate need of volunteers for its Home-Delivered Meal Program in Warwick. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program helps homebound seniors remain healthy, safe, and happy at home.
