Joyce A. (Valley) Murray, age 85, passed away peacefully Friday, June 6, 2025, at Hope Health Hospice in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late George Murray to whom she shared over 50 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2015. Born in Providence, she was the second of ten children born to the late George A. and Gladys E. (Corbin) Valley.
Born with a strong work ethic, Joyce was a longtime Waitress and Bartender for Pals Restaurant for many years and for her sister’s establishment, Parente’s Restaurant for over 35 years. She was a devoted and compassionate mom and when her oldest son became ill, she made sure to visit him every single day throughout his illness.
She was the loving mother of the late Edward Murray and Thomas Murray and the ‘Nana’ of Thomas Murray. Joyce was the sister of Joan Greene, George Valley Jr., Janet Parente, Judith Valley, Michael Valley, Joseph Valley, James Valley and the late Jean Fontes and Ronald Valley. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her Funeral will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 9am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and two sons in the RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation in the Funeral Home Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 5-7pm.
