John A. Pate, “Joe Pate,” age 90, of Warwick, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.   He was the husband of Alice E. (Eak) Pate.

Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Antonio P. and Cecelia (Del Signore) Pate, he was a Warwick resident since 1959.  A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he served with the 45th Infantry Division.

Mr. Pate was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Warwick for 41 years. He served at the Pilgrim Station, and later the Strawberry Field Station.  He was a member of the U.S. Postal Union Local # 3166.

He enjoyed sports, and was an avid golfer, playing in many leagues during his lifetime.  He was a diehard fan of the Red Sox.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lori Ann Pate-Greene and her husband Fred, of Coventry; a son, John D. Pate of Warwick, and his companion Jean; a sister, Patricia Cornell and her husband Robert, of West Warwick; and two granddaughters, Jasmine and Jennifer Greene.  He was the brother of the late Anna L. Simone and Loretta Pate.

His funeral was held on Tuesday, February 28, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick.  Burial was in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
