If you live in the Edgewood/Pawtuxet area, the name Dean Scanlon is familiar to you.
Owner of Revolution American Bistro, entrepreneur, civic leader, humanitarian and supporter of Gaspee Days, Scanlon runs one of the most popular restaurants in the Cranston/Warwick area.
The attractive décor inside the building at 2190 Broad St. reflects the history and surroundings of the village, inviting you in for a drink at the horseshoe bar or a meal in the dining room.
The recent addition of an outside patio has doubled the seating capacity of the establishment and is the place to be seen and to see your neighbors.
On a chilly evening last week, many diners ate outside, warmed by the attractive and effective heat lamps.
The following evening temperatures soared into the seventies with a cool, gentle breeze blowing and tables filling rapidly.
We chose to eat in the air-conditioned dining room last Thursday, where Joyce enjoyed a generously stuffed Lobster Roll and fries ($24), one of the specials that evening. I chose the Garlic Roast Pork Shoulder ($24), a generous portion of tender pork, requiring no knife to gently pull it apart. Garnished with pico de gallo, jalapeno and spicy aioli served over rice, and accompanied by colorful tortillas. It was enough to take home for a full meal the next day.
Other popular standards include Cajun Jambalaya, Garlicky Shrimp & Littlenecks with Chourice, and a number of meat and fish dinners. Dean’s assortment of burgers make for a full meal.
A drink at Revolution is a social occasion, with conversations going on across the u-shaped bar, where the latest neighborhood gossip is shared.
Reservations can be made by calling 780-8700.
