The No. 7 Pilgrim girls basketball team pulled off a big upset on Tuesday evening, rolling past No. 2 North Smithfield 42-33 in the Division III Quarterfinals at North Smithfield High School.
Faith Meade led the way for the Lady Patriots with 11 points scored, while Kelsey Burr continued to impress this postseason with seven points scored. Nadine Ogni and Tatyana Boiano each chipped in six points in the win.
North Smithfield was led by Laura Matchett with a game-high 12 points.
The Pats will now take on No. 3 Woonsocket on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Ponaganset High School in Scituate. The winner will move on to face the winner of Burrillville-Mt. Pleasant in Saturday’s Division III Championship at Rhode Island College.
