By ALEX SPONSELLER The Pilgrim boys lacrosse team has been one of the hottest in the state this spring and extended its unbeaten record to 5-0 with a 12-10 win over Providence Country Day on Tuesday.

Pilgrim also beat Narragansett 12-4 and rival Toll Gate 16-6 last week to emerge as an early state championship favorite.

Freshman Braxton Bragg led Pilgrim with four goals against PCD while James Cook scored a hat trick. Ethan Pezzullo and Peter Kay each scored twice, while RJ Ryan added another score in the win. Goalie Jacob Brennan made 21 stops in net for the Pats.

Bragg, Kay and Ryan Barlow all tallied hat tricks against Narragansett while Pezzullo, Cook and Brady Burke chipped in a goal apiece.

Kay had a huge outing against the Titans last Wednesday, recording a whopping eight scores in the victory. Cook finished with a pair of scores, while Pezzullo, Barlow, Burke, Bragg, Ryan and Connor Widmer all scored one apiece.

Pilgrim has a break until next Wednesday when it will face Westerly. The Pats will wrap up the season with Lincoln and Burrillville.
