NO TRESPASS

Around 12:12 p.m., Feb. 12, Warwick Police responded to Cumberland Farms, 87 West Natick Road, to investigate a report of shoplifting that had happened recently.

The store’s manager told police that a man and a woman came in, poured coffee and noticed the store’s creamer dispenser was out of cream.

“They then went into the cooler and took out the creamer,” according to the incident report written by Warwick Police Officer Nia L. Pina.

The manager approached the man and told him he had to pay for the creamer; that he couldn’t just go into the cooler and take one out.

The manager told police the man agreed with her but left without paying for the creamer. The manager said she told the man that she was calling police. He allegedly replied that he did not care, and left in a green Mazda.

The manager told police that Cumberland Farms would like to issue the man and woman a No Trespass Order, if identified.

Around this time, another Warwick Police officer called out a traffic stop with a vehicle

matching the description.

The man and woman in question were not in the vehicle at the time of the stop. The vehicle was only occupied by the registered owner.

When asked if he knew the man and woman police were seeking, the driver identified them as Nicholas P. Cardullo III, of 89 Doane St., Apt. 2, Cranston, and his girlfriend, Lauren I. Giles, homeless, of Warwick.

The driver called Giles and Pina was able to speak with her and Cardullo.

“They both admitted to using the creamer,” Pina wrote. I advise them both of the No Trespass order at the Cumberland Farms.”

LARCENY

Around 2 p.m., on Feb. 12, a Warwick Police officer was dispatched to Chelo’s Hometown Bar & Grille, 2225 Post Road, to investigate a report of a stolen catalytic converter.

The victim told police that she arrived at Chelo’s for her shift around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 and parked her vehicle in the rear parking lot.

After her shift, the victim told police that she went bowling with her coworkers, and when she returned to her vehicle around 12:30 a.m., she attempted to start her vehicle but it made a loud noise and she smelled fumes.

She left the car in the parking lot and friends gave her a ride home.

The victim told police that this is the fourth time that a catalytic converter has been stolen from the Chelo’s parking lot.

“She stated that the Chelo’s marked vans had their catalytic converters stolen at a previous time,” Warwick Police Officer Nicholas E. DeMarco wrote in the incident report.

The manager told police the lot has no operable exterior cameras at this time.

“The owner was notified and is currently working on getting cameras for the parking lot,” DeMarco wrote.

EMBEZZLEMENT

At 11:47 a.m., Jan. 14, Warwick Police were dispatched to Kohl’s Department Store, 650 Bald Hill Road, to investigate a reported larceny.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police that an ex-employee allegedly stole approximately $1,000 from the cash register over time.

Loss prevention at thestore reviewed video footage for a possible theft, and allegedly discovered Anthony J. Pesare, of 11 Anstis St., Cranston, taking money from a register.

“He then reviewed video footage from other dates on days when the cash had a shortage at a register,” Warwick Police Officer Jordan P. Guyton wrote in the incident report. “Further video footage displayed Pesare taking money on multiple occasions.”

Loss prevention officers examined the dates and times of shortages. They told police that Pesare was a seasonal associate who was terminated before he could be confronted.

The incidents were all captured on video surveillance and Kohl’s management told police they wished to prosecute.

The total loss was eventually calculated to be $835, from six registers, on six different days between Dec. 28, 2021, and Jan. 5.

On Jan. 20, Warwick Police received video surveillance from the store.

“The footage displays Anthony Pesare, who was wearing a white hooded

sweatshirt and khaki pants, behind the Kohl’s register,” Guyton wrote in a follow-up report. “The video was approximately fifteen minutes long where Anthony is seen assisting several customers.

Throughout the video, Anthony … is routinely putting large bills into a blue envelope.”

Police said the footage showed Pesare remove cash from the envelope, but not return the cash to the register. He has been charged with Embezzle by Bank Officer or Employee, a misdemeanor.

Around 12:15 a.m., Feb. 15, Warwick Police responded to Reservoir Avenue at the Route 10 ramp in Cranston to take custody of Pesare from Cranston Police.

He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Warwick Police Headquarters. He was searched, fingerprinted and photographed. Police said Pesare was held pending transport to court since he was a probation violator.
