DUI
On Oct. 11 at 12:56 a.m., Warwick police officer Michael Petrarca Jr. observed a car pull out of Taco Bell, 877 Bald Hill Road, at a high rate of speed. His MDT revealed that the vehicle had a cancelled registration.
Petrarca conducted a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Anthony Atella, 58, of 115 Providence St., West Warwick. Atella’s eyes were “bloodshot and watery” and there was “an overwhelming odor of an alcohol beverage emanating from the vehicle,” according to Petrarca.
Atella consented to standardized field sobriety tests (SFSTs), but declined to submit to a preliminary breath test. Based on his performance on the SFSTs, Atella was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
DRIVING WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE
On Oct. 7 around 1 a.m., Warwick police officer Ryan Riecke observed a gray Dodge Charger traveling at 85 mph in a posted 35-mph zone on Post Road. Riecke conducted a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the operator, identified as Shaine Patrick, 32, of 160 Vallette St., Cranston.
Riecke discovered that Patrick’s license was suspended and placed him under arrest for driving with a suspended license, fourth offense. Patrick was processed at the police station and issued a 3rd District Summons.
RECKLESS DRIVING
On Oct. 11 at 9:54 a.m., Warwick police responded to a report that a vehicle struck a tree on Sea View Drive and the male operator, identified as Robinson Giron, 25, of 10 Oxford St., Cranston, was leaving the scene on foot.
Officers located Giron, who stated that he was texting and driving while speeding on Sea View Drive. He said he hit his face on the steering wheel when he crashed into the tree, and he was transported to Kent County Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation.
Giron was processed at Warwick police headquarters and charged with reckless driving.
NO TRESSPASS ORDER
On Oct. 12 at 11:27 a.m., Warwick police responded to Walmart, 650 Bald Hill Road, for the report of a shoplifting in progress. Officers stopped the suspect, identified as Theodore Wright, 61, of Providence, who was walking out of the store, and retrieved the stolen items.
Walmart personnel requested that a no-trespass order be given to Wright. He was notified of the order and left without incident.
WILLFUL TRESSPASS
On Oct. 12 at 4:54 p.m., Warwick police responded to the West Shore Apartments, 3070 West Shore Road, for the report of a male, identified as Peter Rinn, 42, of 28 Flynn Ave., Cranston, walking around the property despite being trespassed from the property in September.
Warwick Housing Authority confirmed that Rinn was not allowed to be on the property.
Rinn was placed under arrest and charged with willful trespassing.
DUI
On Oct. 9 at 1:19 a.m., Warwick police officer Charles Vella observed a vehicle traveling at 60 mph in a posted 35-mph zone on Post Road. While conducting a motor ve- hicle stop, Vella found the driver, identified as Justin Greene, 23 Malbone St., Providence, to have “watery and bloodshot eyes.”
Greene consented to a series of field sobriety tests. Based on Vella’s observations during these tests, he determined that Greene was impaired.
Greene was transported to Warwick police headquarters and consented to a chemical test. After providing two breath samples, he was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, 1.5 BAC or greater.
