DUI
On Oct. 13 at 2:12 a.m., officer Jonathan McHugh observed a blue 2010 Toyota Matrix swerve on the road and stop at a green light at the intersection of Greenwich Avenue and Metro Center Boulevard.
When conducting a motor vehicle stop, he observed the driver, identified as Sandy Berube, 35, of 26 Oliver St., Massachusetts, to have blood shot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol on her breath. Berube said she was coming from Federal Hill, according to police.
Berube consented to a series of standardized field sobriety tests. She was later transported to Warwick Police Headquarters and charged with DUI — first offense/BAC unknown, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, Landed Roadway Violations, and Obedience to Traffic Control Devices.
SHOPLIFTING
On Oct. 13 at 3:18 p.m., police responded to a report of a shoplifting at Walmart, 650 Bald Hill Road. The suspect, identified as Christopher Carrion, 29, of 170 Benedict St., Providence, stole a baby monitor valued at $149 and was still in the parking lot.
Police approached Carrion and retrieved the baby monitor. Carrion was arrested and charged with Shoplifting, second offense.
BENCH WARRANT
On Oct. 15 at 12:25 p.m., police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle with its “rear passenger’s side stop lamp out as well as the center high mounted stop lamp.”
The driver, identified as Richard Gadoury, 35, of Coventry, had a suspended driver’s license. The passenger, Jason Sykes, 43, of Providence, had an active bench warrant. Sykes was transported to Third District Court and released to the Rhode Island Sherrifs Department.
BENCH WARRANT
On Oct. 15 at 2:49 p.m., officer Nathaniel Gray observed a driver on East Avenue not wearing his seat belt. When conducting a traffic stop, Gray determined that the driver, identified as Nicolas Capela, 27, of 278 York Ave., Pawtucket, had an active warrant from Central Falls Police.
He was transported to Warwick Police Headquarters and issued a summons for No Seat Belt Operator.
NO TRESPASS ORDER
On Oct. 15 at 2:37 p.m., police were dispatched to Bald Hill Dodge, 1035 Bald Hill Road, for a disturbance in progress. An employee stated that a man, identified as Gadi Shemtov, 64, of Cranston, returned a rental vehicle with a cracked windshield and broken accessories to the facility.
Shemtov “entered the store irate and began using vulgar words” the employee, according to police. The employee requested that Shemtov be trespassed from the property. Shemtov was notified of this no trespass order in person.
WARRANT ARREST
On Oct. 16 at 10:30 a.m., police observed two passengers in the back seat of a maroon GMC Envoy not wearing their seat belts. When conducting a motor stop, he found that the driver, identified as Jeffrey Furtado, 38, of Pawtucket, had a suspended license.
He was driving with a male and two females. The officer observed drug paraphernalia in plain view, including “needles in both female’s purses and a large bong pipe in the center console.”
One of the passengers, Gina Bernardo, 39, of 28 Flynn Ave., Cranston, had two felony shoplifting warrants from Coventry Police Department.
Furtado was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license. Bernardo was processed at Warwick Police Department until Coventry Police took custody of her.
NO TRESPASS ORDER
On Oct. 16 at 1:24 p.m., police responded to Airport Liquors, 1800 Post Road, for a shoplifting complaint in progress. When police arrived, the suspected, identified as Kenneth Dixon, 46, of West Warwick, was standing in an aisle looking at items. He shoplifted from the store before, according to police.
Police advised Dixon that the store requested a no trespass order.
