DUI
On Oct. 27 at 12:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop after witnessing a motor vehicle cross over the double yellow lines on Greenwich Avenue three times. The officer observed the operator, identified as Jeffrey Kaplan, 55, of 173 Main St., East Greenwich, to have bloodshot and watery eyes.
The officer smelled alcohol and cigarettes emanating from Kaplan. Kaplan consented to a series of standardized field sobriety tests.
Based on his performance during the SFSTs, and the officer’s observations, Kaplan was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs.
Kaplan was transported to Warwick Police Headquarters and issued a summons for DUI of Liquor — BAC .10 to .15 — 1st offense. He was also issued a citation for Obedience to Traffic Control Devices and Landed Roadway Violations.
WARRANT ARREST
On Oct. 27 at 8:54 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle without its headlights or tail lights on. When conducting a traffic stop, the officer discovered that the driver, identified as Luz Acosta, 20, of Central Falls, had a suspended driver’s license and an active affidavit warrant from Providence Police Department.
Acosta was transported to Warwick Police Headquarters and issued a citation for driving after denial revocation suspension of license — 3rd offense. Providence Police Department later transported Acosta to their department.
NO TRESPASS ORDER
On Oct. 28 at 7:23 p.m., police responded to Kohl’s Department Store, 650 Bald Hill Road. An employee told police that a man, identified as Javier Skeene, 33, of Connecticut, became angry with the cashier over the store’s “Kohl’s cash” policy.
According to the employee, Skeene was attempting to use $800 worth of Kohl’s cash. The employee advised that he was only allowed to use 6 Kohl’s cash per transaction.
Police advised Skeene of his no trespass order, to which he acknowledged.
DRIVING WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE
On Oct. 30 around 9:20 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop against a vehicle speeding on East Avenue. The driver, identified as Jennifer Bailey, 42, of 984 Providence St., West Warwick, was found to have a suspended license.
Bailey was issued a citation summons for Driving with Suspended License — 4th offense and Speeding 11+ MPG in Excess of Posted Speed Limit — 1st offense.
DUI
On Oct. 30 at 6:56 p.m., officers responded to a call from a man driving behind a vehicle driving “all over the roadway and striking curbs” on West Shore Road.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver, identified as Douglas Allen, 51, of 50 Duane St., Warwick, who had alcohol on his breath, bloodshot and watery eyes, and slurred speech.
Allen consented to a series of standardized field sobriety tests. Based on his performance on the tests, and the officer’s observations, Allen was placed under arrest.
The officer had Allen transported to Kent County Hospital for a blood draw after suspecting Allen was also under the influence of narcotics.
Allen was charged with DUI — BAC Unknown — 3rd offense and Driving with Suspended/Revoked/Cancelled License — 4th offense, as well as an RITT summons for Laned Roadway Violations.
SHOPLIFTING
On July 9, police responded to Ulta, 1245 Bald Hill Road, for a report of shoplifting that occurred on July 8 at 4:20 p.m.
An employee stated that a woman, later identified as Linda Labossiere, 61, of North Smithfield, was seen on video surveillance “taking items out of the original packing and concealing them in her purse,” according to police.
Labossiere paid for one item, but left the store without paying for the other concealed items.
On Oct. 31 at 11:45 p.m., a Warwick officer processed Labossiere, who was arrested by Smithfield Police Department for a warrant out of the Warwick Police Department.
Labossiere was issued a District Court Summons for one count of Misdemeanor Shoplifting.
SHOPLIFTING
On Nov. 2 at 4:53 p.m., officers responded to Walmart, 650 Bald Hill Road, for the report of a shoplifting in progress.
The officer observed the suspect, identified as Thomas Pappas, 31, of 2030 Elmwood Ave., Warwick, exiting the store with four concealed packages of wireless headphones valuing $216.88.
Pappas was taken into custody, charged with Shoplifting > 100 — 2nd offense, and issued a no trespass order.
