DUI
On Nov. 9 at 3:48 a.m., officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Greenwich Avenue and Metro Center Boulevard after observing a gray 2019 Honda Accord driving erratically.
While making contact with the driver, identified as Giovanni Baccaire, 22, of 84 Alto St., Cranston, the officer detected the smell of alcohol on his breath. The officer conducted a series of standardized field sobriety tests.
Baccaire was placed under arrest and transported to Warwick Police Headquarters. He was charged with one count of DUI of Liquor – BAC unknown – 1st offense. He was also issued two traffic citations for one count of Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test and one count of Laned Roadway Violations.
SHOPLIFTING
On Nov. 9 at 5:50 p.m., officers responded to Walmart, 650 Bald Hill Road, for the report of a shoplifting in progress. They waited outside the store until a loss prevention employee signaled to them once the shoplifter passed all points of sale.
The suspect, identified as Cody Carey, 41, of 17 New Hampshire St., concealed 22 facial products in his jacket and jean pockets totaling $250.43. He was placed under arrest and issued a No Trespass Order.
Carey was transported back to Warwick Police Headquarters and issued a 3rd District Court Summons for Shoplifting.
NO TRESSPASS
On Nov. 11 at 9:15 p.m., police responded to Walmart, 650 Bald Hill Road, for the report of a shoplifting in progress.
Video surveillance showed the suspect, identified as Nancy Young, 25, of Coventry, taking price tags off merchandise.
An officer informed Young that she was being issued a no trespass order.
SHOPLIFTING
On Nov. 12 at 12:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walmart, 650 Bald Hill Road, for a report of shoplifting. The loss prevention employee, who officers recognized from past shoplifting reports, pointed officers to the suspect in the parking lot.
The suspect, eventually identified as James Welcome, 41, of 187 Franklin Highway, Andover, New Hampshire, provided officers false identification.
Welcome was charged with Shoplifting and Obstructing Officer In Line of Duty.
SHOPLIFTING
On Oct. 20 at 12:16 p.m., police responded to Best Buy, 24 Universal Blvd., for the report of a shoplifting that occurred Oct. 15.
A customer, later identified as Keithon Perry, 44, of West Warwick, purchased a Mini Blink Camera while holding Skull Candy headphones. He told the cashier that he already purchased the headphones before leaving the store.
Video surveillance showed that he never purchased the headphones. Police issued a warrant for shoplifting.
On Nov. 13, a Warwick officer was dispatched to the West Warwick Police Department after Perry was arrested. He was charged with one count of Shoplifting and was notified of a No Tresspass Order from Best Buy.
DUI
On Nov. 16 at 1:14 a.m., police responded to the Dunkin’ Donuts roundabout at the intersection of Greenwhich Avenue and Centerville Road for the report of a vehicle being stopped in the road. The driver was reported to be slumped over sleeping behind the wheel.
When officers spoke with the driver, identified as Samuel Caldwell, 58, of 6 Western Hills Lane, Cranston, the “identified the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Caldwell’s breath and his speech to be severely bloodshot and watery.”
Caldwell was placed under arrest and charged with DUI of Liquor – BAC unknown – 1st offense. He was also issued a RITT citation for Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test – 1st and Places Where Parking or Stopping Prohibited.
