DUI

On March 8 at 8:33 p.m., Warwick Police Officers responded to a car crash on Post Road near Tebeca Jewelers. Those first on the scene informed later-arriving officers that they believed one of the drivers to be drunk, as she smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet.

That driver, 35-year-old Kaylee Flanagan of Providence, told officers that she had recently been at a relative’s house on West Shore Road, where she drank both wine and nips.

Flanagan agreed to field sobriety tests. After failing the tests, she was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. She refused to take a breath test following her arrest.

DUI

On March 12 at 12:02 a.m., a WPD officer on patrol noticed a car driving erratically on Bald Hill Road. After seeing the car abruptly swerve to pass cars while moving at 15 miles per hour over the speed limit, nearly causing a crash, the officer conducted a routine traffic stop.

The driver, 37-year-old Christopher Kelly of Coventry, told the officer that he had had 4-5 drinks earlier in the night. The officer observed him to be visibly drunk, with glossy eyes and smelling of alcohol.

Kelly agreed to take field sobriety tests. After failing the tests, he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was reportedly uncooperative, repeatedly saying “I could’ve made it home,” and refused to take a breath test. Additional bottles and cans of alcohol were found in his car.

DUI

On March 14 at 1:46 a.m., a WPD officer noticed a vehicle on Rt. 95 driving at an extreme rate of speed. After seeing the car swerving to pass other cars, nearly colliding with them, the officer conducted a routine traffic stop.

The driver, 32-year-old Josbel Herrera of Cranston, told officers that he was “freaking out” and was speeding as a result of that. He told officers he was returning to Cranston from either Florida or New York, changing his story multiple times. Reportedly, he smelled of alcohol.

Herrera agreed to take field sobriety tests. After failing the tests, he was arrested and charged with a DUI. He attempted to argue with the officers, claiming that as a sovereign citizen, he had diplomatic immunity from any charges filed against him.

The breath test revealed that Herrera had a breath alcohol content of .131.

DRIVING WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE

On March 7 at 2:33 a.m., a WPD officer on patrol noticed a car traveling a significant amount under the speed limit on both Main Ave. and Greenwich Ave. He then pulled over the car.

The driver, 39-year-old Gerald Price of Cranston, said that he and the car’s passenger were going as slow as they did because they were checking directions to get the passenger back home.

A check on Price revealed that he was driving with a suspended license, and had been charged multiple times for it before. Price was arrested and charged with Driving With Suspended License- 4th+ offense.
