Queen was above partisan politics

 To the Editor,

Majesty is a word that can truly be said about Queen Elizabeth II.

Whether you believe in a monarchy form of government or not, it has staying

power of in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Queen Elizabeth II was above partisan politics and was a symbol and example for her land and the world. Her seventy years on the throne of course, are unmatched and both her and her husband, the late Prince Philip were both great, great grandchildren of Queen Victoria who Queen Elizabeth surpassed her record as monarch. Queen Elizabeth II line was through her great grandfather King Edward VII, who had a short reign. It is interesting how matters have changed, Since the crisis of King Edward VIII who became monarch and abdicated because of his relationship to an American who was divorced, and I recall possibly twice divorced. He died in 1972; and was referred to as the Duke of Windsor. There are multiple divorced Royal family members including King Charles III.

Getting back to Queen Elizabeth II, she was monarch all my life, and I was born the same month of her coronation in June, 1953. Her accession was in 1952 when her father King George VI died. She was a great example to her country, her commonwealth, and the world. She had a sense of dignity, and really did not show any personal scandal, regardless of any close relatives had. I saw her and other Royals in 1984; while I was in London, and during that trip, Remembrance Day which is November 11; was going on which honors veterans killed in the line of duty. I took the opportunity to take in the line of vehicles going to it.

Queen Elizabeth II should be noted for being the great world figure and conducting herself to her nation, commonwealth, and the world with dignity and her long time commitment. The United Kingdom and their monarchs are not perfect. You can point to negative things in their history. However let’s judge people and everything in its entirety as well as the time it happened. I will miss her, as she has been a figure all of my nearly seventy years of life!
