On the night of Sunday, Feb. 21 residents of the Cranberry Pond Apartments Building B were evacuated due to a kitchen fire in one of the units. The Warwick Fire Department responded to the scene and was able to put out the fire before it damaged any other apartments. One woman was brought to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
In an interview on Tuesday, Mayor Frank Picozzi commended the fire department for their quick action and noted that there wasn’t much damage to the apartment that caught fire, although firefighters did have to break open doors to check for residents in neighboring apartments.
