Pilgrim High School will be in remote learning until after Thanksgiving, Superintendent Lynn Dambruch said on Friday afternoon, following a COVID-19 outbreak at the school. The outbreak occurred following the school’s outdoor homecoming event on Nov. 6.
The school has been in remote learning since Monday and as of Wednesday afternoon there were over 70 positive cases according to Dambruch.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Pilgrim High School will continue with remote learning on Monday, November 22nd and Tuesday, November 23rd,” an email from the District’s Administration read. “Thanksgiving recess will start on Wednesday, November 24th. In person classes will resume on Monday, November 29.”
On Wednesday the Rhode Island Department of Health held a COVID-19 testing site at Pilgrim. According to Dambruch, 310 students were tested at the testing site.
“Please continue to email positive COVID test results to Ms. Bernardi,” the email to parents read. "In particular those tests that were taken at independent testing sites, such as CVS and Walgreens.”
