Restore faith in City Government this Tuesday

Posted

To the Editor,

Warwick City Hall has been dominated by members of the same party for the past 40 years. Without political diversity, City Hall has become an echo chamber where old ideas and predictable outcomes play to an empty gallery. The Democrats on the Council govern with certainty — When they arrive at the meetings they already know how they will vote. There is seldom debate and discussion and when members such as Ward 5 Councilman Ed Ladouceur speak up they are swiftly dismissed. There needs to be debate and discussion to create transparency in Government decisions. Without open debate and government transparency, faith in the system is lost. This Election Day, I’m running for City Councilman of Ward 3 to restore that faith.

This is a special time in Warwick's history. With new schools, airport construction, and the addition of close to 1,000 new neighbors across multiple housing developments, I’m prepared and ready to provide the attention needed to ensure the residents of Ward 3 are well informed on all these major decisions. Clear and open communication between a Councilman and their constituency is vital. There is major room for improvement here in Ward 3. As your Councilman, I will return your calls and be the voice for all my neighbors in City Hall regardless of political leanings. I’ve lived in Warwick my entire life. Serving the residents of Warwick has been a lifelong goal of mine. On November 5th, I humbly ask for your vote to serve you as the newest member of our City Council.

Rick Cascella
Candidate for Council Ward 3
