The Rhode Island Historical Records Advisory Board (RIHRAB) announces a free, virtual workshop on the topic of Grant Writing Basics on Friday, April 16, at 9 a.m.

Presenting the workshop is Beth Plummer-Ricci, who has served as Grants Manager for Providence Public Library for over six years, and for Dorcas International Institute of RI for five years prior. She has a degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing from Emerson College, and is a founding partner of Eleven Design, a Providence-based media production and marketing firm.

The program is approximately 90 minutes in length and includes an optional post-workshop Q&A session with state archivist and board members of the RIHRAB. This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview on all things related to grantseeking. Beyond just the technical aspects of developing proposals and budgets, it will cover the full range of activities, considerations, and capacity building measures needed to achieve a consistently high level of success in winning grants, managing grants, building relationships with grantors, and creating programming that is fundable and sustainable overall.

Workshops are open to archivists, students, volunteers, and information professionals associated with Rhode Island organization. Each workshop is limited to 40 participants. To pre-register visit rihrab.com and follow the link to RIHRAB Workshop Series.

This workshop is the first of four to be offered by RIHRAB in 2021 with support from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC). Future topics include collections management, DIY conservation, and a round robin of ideas relevant to the preservation of paper records.

RIHRAB serves as a central advisory body for historical records planning and project development for NHPRC-funded projects in the state and encourages and supports communication and coordination among the historical records community.
