Rhode Island Medical Imaging (RIMI) radiologists, technologists and staff donated food items and holiday gifts to benefit Rhode Island children, families, and elderly adults this past December. The donations were collected through several drives held by RIMI throughout the month and from its annual holiday employee event.

More than 650 pounds of food and 370 gifts were collected. The items were donated to local community organizations, including:

Food for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank; gifts for St. Mary’s Home for Children; pajamas for Foster Forward; stuffed animals and snow globes for Hasbro Children’s Hospital and gifts for Brentwood by the Bay Assisted Living and Sunny View Nursing Home both in Warwick.

“We thank RIMI and its employees for their gift donations,” said Marisa Rodrigues, development associate at Hasbro Children's Hospital. “Their generosity helps to ensure our children and families know they are being thought of and cared for this holiday season.”

Gift drive donations included toys, art supplies, clothing, gift cards, puzzle books, blankets and personal care items. Food items included canned goods, peanut butter, whole wheat pasta and sauce. It will be distributed across the state through the Food Bank’s network of 168 partner agencies.

“We rely on local businesses and individuals providing food and funds that support our work feeding our neighbors in need,” said Andrew Schiff, CEO of Rhode Island Community Food Bank. “We are so thankful to Rhode Island Medical Imaging for participating in this year’s holiday food drive and donating 650 pounds of food which we’ll distribute to hungry Rhode Islanders.”

“Every child and adult deserves to know they are cared for, especially during the holidays,” said Siobhain Sullivan, executive director, clinical operations at RIMI. “As a direct result of the generosity of RIMI’s employees, it was pleasure to be able to expand RIMI’s holiday giving program to these five amazing organizations. We hope our gifts bring smiles and happy memories to these many deserving recipients.”

In 2018, RIMI’s annual holiday giving drive collected nearly 400 gifts for the children of St. Mary’s Home for Children. Learn more are RIMI at rimirad.com.
