Robert “Bob” Petrin, 81, of Warwick, passed away on Monday, May 2nd, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late George Pigeon and Blanche (Petrin) Pigeon. He was the loving husband of Claire Helene (Larrivee) Petrin for 52 years.
Bob worked as a Machinist for the Brown & Sharpe Corporation for almost 40 years, and, for a time, for General Dynamics Electric Boat. He was also a dedicated New England sports fan, and played softball on the Brown & Sharpe team. He was an active member of the Buttonwoods Bible Chapel for over 30 years.
An avid learner his entire life, Bob used his smartphone like an encyclopedia. He could engineer a fix for nearly any problem that he faced. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed playing cards, shell fishing for quahogs and clams on Greenwich Bay, spending time at Conimicut Beach, and vacationing with family in New Hampshire. He was an animal lover, both to family pets and those he encountered.
In addition to his wife Claire, he is survived by his beloved children, Christiane Marie Petrin Lambert (R. Scott) of Exeter, Jennifer Louise Bessette (Robert J.) of Warwick, and Robert Daniel Petrin (Crystal McKinnon) of Marlborough, MA, his brother, George Petrin of Somerset, MA, three cherished grandchildren, Zachary Lambert, Hannah Lambert, and Rebecca Bessette, his beloved “four-legged” grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Francis Petrin and Jeanne Toupin.
His Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, May 10th at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME in Warwick. Interment followed at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River, MA.
