Fruits of their labor
BOUNTY FROM FLORIDA: East Greenwich Rotary Club members gather for a group shot at the Paul Arpin Van Lines warehouse and to display a carton of grapefruit
NOW THAT’S FRIENDLY: In a playful display of defiance of COVID protocols, Rotarian Harry Waterman took off his mask and extended his hand to welcome Beacon coverage of Saturday’s event.
YOUTHFUL POWER: Members of the Rocky Hill School Interact Club carried boxes of citrus to the cars of those making pickups. People stayed in their cars, not that they were anxious to step out into the wind and rain.
Members of the East Greenwich Rotary Club, the Interact Club they host at Rocky Hill Country Day School and the Rotoract Club at the New England Institute of Technology weren’t put off by Dec. 5th’s stormy weather as they manned the distribution phase of their annual citrus drive. The club raises more than $4,000 with the sale of grapefruit, oranges, pears, apples and preserves to support its charitable efforts. The pickup was held at the Paul Arpin Van Lines warehouse in West Warwick where the shipment of fruit was delivered from Florida. Club president Ron Winde said Paul Arpin has been a wonderful partner in providing the space and enabling the distribution. (Warwick Beacon photos)
