The Bishop Hendricken basketball team rolled past Portsmouth 65-53 in the Division I quarterfinals last week.
James Caldarella and Jakob Reyes stayed hot and led the Hawks with 20 points each. Caldarella helped the Hawks finish the job in the fourth quarter by putting up 11 points.
Hendricken’s Deion Ellis-Cipriano also finished with nine while Mike D’Ambra added eight.
The third-seeded Hawks advanced to the semis against No. 2 Classical on Wednesday night, but the results were unavailable at press time. The two teams met twice in the regular season and split their games.
BOYS HOCKEY
La Salle 5, Pilgrim 2
The Rams powered past Pilgrim in last week’s Division I showdown.
Justin Cramer and Chase DeGregorio scored Pilgrim’s goals while Nate Kane added an assist. Michael Bessette finished with 26 saves in net for the Pats.
Pilgrim will next take on Prout in the Division I quarterfinals this weekend. The best-of-three series begins on Friday at the University of Rhode Island’s Boss Arena, then will head north to Thayer Arena on Saturday.
Hendricken 7, Burrillville 1
The Hawks wrapped up the regular season in a big way by rolling past the Broncos in a state finals rematch.
Mason Crain led the Hawks with two goals while Aiden Craft, Tiernan Leahy, Nick Stevens, Nick Diraffaele and Kolby Kanelos all lit the lamp as well. Cullen Crain recorded three assists in the win while goalie Avery Picchione stopped 12 of 13 shots faced.
The Hawks will turn around to face the Broncos in the first round of the playoffs on Friday night at home.
East Greenwich/Toll Gate 7, South Kingstown 1
The EG/TG co-op clinched first place and the top seed in the Division II playoffs with a win over the Rebels in the regular season finale.
Brady Parks and Joe Andreozzi each netted a pair of goals while Austen Dufresne, Brendan Darcey and Garrett Carney also scored. Goalie Wyatt Gelzhiser finished the day with 23 saves.
The co-op will host North Kingstown in the quarterfinals on Thursday night in West Warwick.
