The Pilgrim football team improved to 2-0 this season by holding off Cranston East in a 13-6 victory last week at home.

Jacob Soulliere got Pilgrim on the board in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown, then quarterback Carter Clifton hit Luka Rusico on a long touchdown pass to extend the lead to 13-0 in the second quarter.

East quarterback Jovany Gonzalez responded shortly after when he connected with Amias Reed for a 50-yard strike, but the Pilgrim defense was lights out in the second half, shutting out the Bolts despite their four trips to the red zone.

The Pats will have another tough challenge this week when they hit the road to take on red-hot Burrillville.
