Russell G. “Butch” Luce

Russell G. “Butch” Luce, age 75, of Warwick, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Eleanor (Fagan) Luce, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this coming September.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Oliver H. and Margaret (Meredith) Luce, he lived in Warwick for the last 44 years. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and served in the Navy Reserves for 24 years. Mr. Luce was employed as a carpenter at the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics in Groton, CT for 35 years, retiring in 2008. He was involved with the Seabee Museum at Quonset Point. He was the president of the Saturday Night Live Bowling League at Lang’s Bowlerama in Cranston, and was a former coach with the Warwick National Little League.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Donna M. MacDonald of Vero Beach, FL and Bethany A. Tremmel of Warwick; a son, Patrick R. Luce of Charlestown; two sisters, Patricia Viner and Meredith Cherry, both of West Greenwich; a brother, Oliver Luce of Cranston; and eight grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, April 15, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. A committal service, with military honors, will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, South County Trail, Exeter.
