Balise Motor Sales, with 10 stores in Rhode Island, nine in Massachusetts and a total of 22 new and used car dealerships, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. As part of its effort to build community, Balise targets key agencies that it believes address significant issues to benefit the community. The company has been a major contributor to the Warwick Boys and Girls Clubs with a $50,000 contribution to the technology that went into the club’s teen center at the Armory on Sandy Lane. The company stepped up again in November and December donating a percentage of all Rhode Island regular scheduled service calls – a total of $10,256.25 – to the club. Stores in Western Massachusetts and on the Cape also participated in a similar campaign giving a portion of their car wash operations to organizations in those communities for a total of more than $30,000. At a gathering Thursday at Balise Toyota on Post Road, Alex Balise, the fourth generation of the Balise family to be involved in running the business joined in a check presentation to Lara D’Antuono, Boys and Girls Clubs executive director. They were joined by Mayor Joseph Solomon who praised the foresight of the Balise family. D’Antuono called the contribution “huge” and going a long way to maintain club operations.
