Woodbury Union Church that burned in a Thanksgiving eve fire in 2018 is close to reopening. With erection of the steeple, the last major phase of exterior construction was completed. Meanwhile, interior work including drywall, painting, floors and the installation of sprinklers is under way. Custom-built chairs, which will be used in place of pews, have been delivered and stained glass windows – saved from the fire – have been installed. The work is projected to be completed in late July enabling parishioners to return. St. Benedict Church welcomed Woodbury to use its facilities immediately following the fire and that is where the congregation has been meeting. In scenes here, Rose Rodriguez sands a wall in preparation for painting and Jeff Schweigert and Joseph Vario of Encore Fire Protection install sprinklers. (Warwick Beacon photos)
