Warwick voters followed the statewide tend in approving all seven referenda on the Tuesday ballot for a total of $400 million in borrowing. Two polls were open with 839 casting ballots at City Hall and another 1,095 at the Pilgrim Senior Center. Another 610 city voters took advantage of casting their ballots early and the state mailed out 8,400 mail ballots to Warwick voters. Dottie McCarthy, city director of elections said Wednesday she didn’t expect the finally tally of mail ballots to be completed until late today. Issue #1 for $107.3 million for higher education facilities with 57.6 percent approval from Warwick voters was the least favorite with Warwick voters whereas Issue #2 for $74 million for beaches, clean water and “Green bond” was most favored with nearly 80 percent of the vote. In a statement, Treasurer Seth Magaziner, who lobbied for passage of all seven bonds said, “Today, Rhode Islanders had the opportunity to build a stronger, brighter future for our state, and we did just that.” Here voters are pictured at the City Hall poll.
