Last weekend’s frigid weather made for some good skating on the pond behind Veterans Memorial Middle School. Also, several ice fishermen took advantage of conditions. Vets student Ricky Cabral, who plays hockey for the Blues, would have loved to have joined a pick-up game but he promised his mother he wouldn’t skate on the pond. Technically no Warwick ponds were officially deemed safe for skating. But Ricky had to be close to the action. He stayed within a couple of feet of shore practicing his handling of the puck…and in his shoes, of course. (Warwick Beacon photos)
