Irene V. Stoddard, born in North Kingstown on August 12, 1920 is celebrating her 100th birthday. She graduated from North Kingstown high school in 1938 and married Earle Stoddard in 1940, and was married for 53 yrs. Irene has four children Carol Schrier from Florida, Shirley Scully from Pawtucket, Donald Stoddard from Coventry RI and Joyce Crozier from Alaska. Irene has eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She worked for the East Greenwich School system where she worked in the cafeteria preparing lunches. All of her life she has enjoyed crocheting where she would make all of her kids afghans. She lived mostly in East Greenwich until about 1996 and is now a resident at West View Nursing Home where she spends many of her days doing word puzzles, reading home and lifestyle magazines, video chatting with her family around the country. A new hobby she picked up during COVID-19 outbreak has been bird watching outside with the activities staff. We’re told she has quite the fiery personality and enjoys joking around with all.
