There was a story to why Arielle Chace, clutching a teddy bear in fatigues, led the City Council in the Pledge of Allegiance Monday night. When City Council President Steve McAllister learned Police Chief Brad Connor and Fire Chief Peter McMichael came to Arielle’s aid at the July 4 fireworks display in Oakland Beach he wanted her to visit the council to relate the circumstances. Arielle tripped and fell gouging a knee. As her father Donald Cote worked to clean the cut and stop the bleeding he reached out to Connor thinking he would have a bandage. McMichael was close by and the two provided the first aid…plus a teddy beer. Joining them Monday at Council Chambers was Nathalie Luong  , Cote’s girlfriend, who was also at the fireworks display.
