Peter Anthony Schavone, 69, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Houlker) Schavone to whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Born in Providence, Peter was a son of the late Frank and Eleanor (Procaccini) Schavone.
Upon graduating from La Salle Academy, Peter attended Providence College where he studied Political Science. Later, after marrying Marilyn and starting a family, Peter attended Suffolk Law at night to earn his Juris Doctorate degree all the while working full time during the day. Peter became a well-respected personal injury and worker’s compensation attorney and operated his own law firm for the past 25 years. He was a longtime member of the Justinian Law Society of Rhode Island. He was a dedicated father who instilled a deep respect for education in his children. Their own successes were a great source of pride to him.
Peter had a deep love for all things sports, especially his beloved Red Sox. When his children were small, he coached their Little League teams and as the years passed, he could often be found on the sidelines cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Politics was one of Peter’s passions and he kept up to date on current political events by reading various news publications daily.
His kind heart and generosity will be missed by all who knew and loved him. These included clients, colleagues, friends and relatives as well as his adored pet dogs who were never far from his side.
In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his daughter Jennifer Goff and her husband Christopher, son Peter A. Schavone Jr. and his wife Julie and grandchildren Bryce Goff, Abbie Schavone and Ellie Schavone. He was the brother of Anne Marcaccio and her late husband Dr. Vincent Marcaccio and Robert Schavone and his wife Jane.
