Robert A. Spencer, 70, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 21, 2025. He was the loving husband of Donna (Neirinckx) Spencer, they had been married for 32 years. Born in East Greenwich, Robert was the son of the late Earl and Barbara (Northup) Spencer.
Rob grew up and was educated in “Old” East Greenwich and very proud that he was one of the Spencer’s from East Greenwich. He loved the beach, New Hampshire, and went on a lot of vacation with his wife and family. Rob was a very proud New York Yankees, Boston Bruins, and Patriots fan. He enjoyed fishing and just relaxing by the water.
Rob worked at Electric Boat for several years and then went on to work as a maintenance man for the housing for the elderly. Rob was very handy, he was a jack of all trades and could fix anything.
Rob loved being with family and friends, he most especially enjoyed watching and cheering for his grandson at his Tee Ball games. He was especially close with his brother Steven who Rob would call “The Candyman” because he was always bringing him sweets. Rob would make friends and talk to anyone he met.
Rob also liked riding his bike and spent a lot of time riding bikes with his grandson Connor. Rob enjoyed nature walks and enjoyed working in his yard in the garden and maintaining his lawn. Growing up Rob was an avid horseback rider; he also enjoyed skiing and ice skating. He also enjoyed playing softball when he was a young adult. For the past 7 years he spent most of his winter traveling to hockey rinks all over New England watching his grandson Connor play hockey and he was a proud hockey grandparent.
Rob was very neighborly and was able to get to know everyone in his Warwick neighborhood throughout the years.
Besides his wife Rob is survived his children, Michael Spencer and his wife Jennifer, Kimberly Spencer and her husband Christopher Drake. He was the proud grandfather of Luke Spencer and Connor Drake. He was the brother of Steven Spencer and his wife Kerrie and the late George Spencer. Rob is survived by his cousin Charlotte and other cousins from Pennsylvania. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A visitation for Rob will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. His funeral services and burial will be private.
