Betty E. Stacey (Johnson), 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Stacey. Born in Providence, Betty was the devoted daughter of the late Bernhard and Mabel Johnson (Swinden). She is survived by her children Debra J. Stacey (Raymond Lefebvre), Donald J. Stacey Jr. (Donna) and Denise S. Mair (Peter); by her beloved grandchildren Derrick Stacey (Cara) and Amanda Smith (Philip); and her two great-grandchildren Nora Smith and Layla Stacey.

A woman of great faith, Betty was always ready to volunteer her time and efforts to help others. Organizations for which she volunteered include, but are not limited to the Rhode Island Family Shelter, the Presbyterian Women, the Vacation Bible School at Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian (GCCP) and the Picasso Quilters which made and distributed blankets to homeless shelters. Betty was a proud member of GCCP for over 50 years and was the church secretary almost 25 years. Before working at GCCP, Betty was instrumental in opening the Apex Department Store in Pawtucket. After her retirement in 1988, Betty and her husband purchased their Winnebago Motor Home which they used to travel the country, visiting family, friends, and attending Navy reunions. Her best trip of all, however, was when her family brought her to Paris and then to England where she was able to meet many extended relatives from her mother’s side of the family. Betty will be missed dearly by all those who were blessed to know her.

The family is very grateful to all the “dirty birds” at Cherry Hill Manor Nursing Home, who took exceptional care of Betty for the last 3 ½ years.

Betty’s funeral will be held on Saturday November 9, 2024, at 10:00am at the Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian, 805 Main Ave, Warwick. Her burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Presbyterian Women of GCCP, 805 Main Ave, Warwick, RI 02886.
