William Harry Strand, 91, of Warwick, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Patricia Ann (Jensen) Strand. Born in Bradford, PA, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Marie E. (Johnson) Strand.
William was a graduate of Bradford High School in Bradford, Pennsylvania and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He went on to work for Johnson Motor Lines for five years, Eastern Airlines as a Ticket Salesman for twenty-eight years, Old Stone Bank for five years, and New England Tech for the remainder of his working career.
William was a member of the Woodbury Union Church in Warwick, the former Whirlaways Square Dance Club and the Pilgrim Senior Center. He was also a volunteer at the Providence Performing Arts Center and Trinity Repertory Theater for over twenty-five years. William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a lifelong animal lover.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Laurie Ann Strand of Warwick and Susan Marie St. John (her husband Donald) of Glocester, his grandchildren, Christine St. John and Robert St. John (his partner Amanda Bendixon), his great-grandchildren, Brielle and Jackson, and his sisters, Sarah Lanier of Georgia and Virginia Randolph of Pennsylvania.
He was the father-in-law of the late Everett Bellew and brother of the late Anna Graham, Donna Johnson, and Shirley Layton.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 6:30PM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4:00PM-6:30PM.
