June 21 not only marks the first day of summer but Mayor Frank Picozzi's birthday. This year the Mayor is turning 63. He planed on celebrating with his family Tuesday with Chinese food and his favorite dish General Tso chicken. Tuesday morning Picozzi visited the Pilgrim Senior Center to join them and General Treasurer Seth Magaziner in celebrating the first day of summer and helping seniors reunite with lost money from the unclaimed property team. The Mayor was surprised with a birthday cake bearing a single candle from the staff at the Pilgrim Senior Center and presented by center director Meg Underwood. Seniors joined in song to sing happy birthday. Picozzi was also surprised when a  happy birthday sign appeared in front of City Hall. He said the people who set it up “are like ninjas” one moment he was watering the flowers and nothing was there when he returned it was all set up. This year the mayor only has one birthday wish,  “that no one will run against me.”  So far that appears to be the case. (Warwick Beacon photo)
