You’ve heard it before, Rhode Island is the “Fun Size State” You can travel across the smallest state in the union, in under one hour!  With gas prices soaring, now is a great time to stay close to home and discover all that Rhode Island has to offer.

We have two big venues that feature shows and exhibits that travel across the US.  At the Rhode Island Convention Center, Beyond Van Gogh, an Immersive Experience is running from May 17th through July 8th.    Another venue in Providence, the Dunkin Donuts Center, offers a variety of shows for all ages.  CIRQUE DU SOLEIL is coming July 7th through July 10th. You can Google the venues for more information and a list of upcoming events. Our beautiful state also features great places to walk, bike and have a picnic.  Rocky Point Park in Warwick has a paved walking path that has sweeping views of the bay.  On a clear day, you can see the Newport and Jamestown bridges. There are many places to stop and have a picnic and benches on the path to sit and take it all in.  One of my favorite things are the plaques on the path that tell the rich history of Rocky Point.  For those of you that grew up here and only remember it as an amusement park, there is much more to learn.

Warwick also has Goddard Park and City Park.  Both are beautiful.   Providence features Water Place Park.  You can view the Providence skyline and enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants nearby.  Waterfire, which brings people from all over the country, is a great night out.  Open to the public and free to attend, it’s a great event for all ages!  For adults, Rhode Island has breweries that offer tours and tastings.  Apponaug Brewing Company and Proclamation Ale Company, both located in Warwick are two of my favorites.  I could go on forever about all the fun things to do in our state, many are free but best of all, close by so you are not driving far! For more information check out this website, GoLocalProv and click on events for a great list of fun things to do in Our Fun Size State!
