Remains of victims from Cranston house fire have been identified

Cranston police released a statement identifying the victims of a house fire that occurred on Whitewood Drive,  February 24, 2023, at approximately 2:41 am. Members of the Fire and Police Departments responded  to  a report of a house fire. Upon arrive, officers and firefighters found the single-family completely covered in flame.

As firefighters entered the premises, two male individuals were located. The two men in question were already deceased. State medical examiners have identified the two deceased men as Bruce Jeremiah, age 80, and Andrew Jeremiah, age 86.

Neighbors had reported that to their knowledge two brothers had been living at the address. With identification positively made, it is confirmed brothers were indeed the victims of the house fire.  The press release issued by Cranston police said, “Personnel from the Cranston Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit, State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Cranston Fire Department Fire Prevention continue to investigate the cause of the fire and the death of the occupants. At this point, the fire appears accidental, and the deaths resulted from the fire, with no foul play suspected.”
