Genevieve M. (Jarvie) VanGyzen, 91, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Kent Hospital in Warwick. She was the wife of the late John J. VanGyzen, Jr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late James S. and Helen (Chaffee) Jarvie. Genevieve was the beloved mother of Jeffrey S. VanGyzen (Cynthia), Joseph A. VanGyzen (Idalmis), James M. VanGyzen, Joy E. VanGyzen, and the late John J. VanGyzen III. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was the sister of James, John, Franklin, Elizabeth, Barbara, Carolyn, Faith, Gail, Helen, and Shirley. Genevieve loved spending time with her family, playing the organ, bowling, bingo and going to the casino.
Her visitation will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 from 10-11am followed by a service at 11am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
