Virginia R. “Ginny” Coppa

Virginia R. “Ginny” Coppa, on August 2, 2020 Ginny passed on to everlasting life at peace in the kingdom of God at the age of 89. She was formerly of Warwick, RI and for the past 23 years of Hobe Sound, FL, at Lakeside Village, and recently Salerno Bay Health Center, Stuart, FL.

Born in Warwick, RI, she was a daughter of the late Venanzio Coppa and Maria C. (Amoroso) Coppa. She had a distinguished 43-year nursing career in Rhode Island at the V.A. Medical Center and Fatima Surgery Center as an operating room nurse. She was an active member of the Association of O.R. Nurses of RI. She also served on their Board and on the Board of Lakeside Village in various capacities.

Ginny was devoted to enjoying life to its fullest along with her many friends including her pet canines, especially Shadow and Charlie. She was a boat enthusiast for 37 years and spent many enjoyable days as captain of her own “Dollar Down” cruising Narragansett Bay and enjoying the delicacies of littlenecks., steamers, and even red kelp salads with a host of family and friends. She was also a colorful writer of editorials and poetry for local RI newspapers. She was active in duckpin bowling, photography, and was a standout pitcher in a local fast pitch softball league.

She was the sister of deceased brothers, Raymond V., John F., and Joseph F. Coppa, and deceased sisters, Laura R. Hogan and Eleanor R. McMann. Ginny was a long-time communicant of St. Kevin’s Church, Warwick, RI and St. Christopher Church, Hobe Sound, FL.
