DUI

Just before 7 p.m. on Feb. 28, Officer Justin Martin responded to the area of 3803 Post Road for a three-vehicle accident.

At the scene, witnesses directed Martin to a man who was said to be the operator of a black Acura with heavy front-end damage. The officer made contact with the man and reports he “immediately detected the odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.” The man is additionally said to have slurred his speech and exhibited “severely bloodshot” eyes.

The man is said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which he reportedly failed.

Manuel Ixquiactap Tambriz, 28, 122 Pender Ave., Warwick, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. While at headquarters, Tambriz is said to have acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier that day. He is said to have agreed to a chemical breath test, which reportedly found his blood alcohol content to be significantly above the legal limit.

He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. Based on a records check, he was additionally cited for operating a vehicle without first obtaining a license, second offense.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. on March 1, Officer Cody Wild was traveling on Bald Hill Road when he observed a Dodge Ram swerving between lanes and over the fog line while heading north.

Wild initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the male operator. He “immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” emanating from the operator’s breath and observed the man’s eyes to be “mildly bloodshot and watery.” The man is additionally said to have slurred his speech.

The operator is said to have acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier that night and agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which he reportedly failed.

Ednei Elias Rosa Pereira, 38, 319 Blackstone St., Providence, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. While at headquarters, he is said to have refused a chemical breath test.

Pereira was later released into the custody of a sober adult with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. He was additionally cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test and a laned roadway violation.

STOLEN GOODS

At approximately 11:09 a.m. on Feb. 26, officers Kyle Palmer and Nicholas DiNardo responded to Warwick Mall for a report of a shoplifting suspect in custody.

At the scene, mall security told the officers that the mall suspect had been observed taking four T-shirts from the Zumiez store without making any attempt to pay. The shirts had a combined value of nearly $100.

Marcos Fernandes, 38, no address listed, was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen goods and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later taken to Third Division District Court and transferred to the custody of sheriffs.

SHOPLIFTING

At approximately 5:41 p.m. on Feb. 10, officers Gian Micheletti and Charles Austin responded to the Walmart at 840 Post Road for a report of a shoplifting incident that occurred earlier that day.

At the scene, a loss prevention associate told the officers that a review of security camera footage found two suspects – a man and a woman – had selected multiple items from the store and concealed them in personal bags before exiting without making any attempt to pay. The merchandise included several packages of cold medicine, electric toothbrushes, heartburn medication and several other items that could not be identified. At least $200 worth of merchandise was taken, according to the associate.

The footage showed the suspects entering a silver Toyota outside the store, and Micheletti was able to identify a license plate number. The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives. The suspects were later identified, and an arrest warrant was issued for each of a charge of shoplifting.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on March 2, officers Karen Haarr and Kevin Warren responded to North Smithfield Police headquarters to take custody of Timothy Earl Ring, 43, 109 Warwick St., second floor, Woonsocket, and Maryangela Boyd, 37, 53 Atlanta St., rear, Woonsocket, on the warrants. Ring and Boyd were transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing and held pending arraignment.

FORGERY/COUNTERFEITING

Shortly before 5 p.m. on Feb. 28, Officer William Holz was traveling east on Airport Road in the area of the National Guard compound when he observed a vehicle – described as a 2003 Honda Pilot – with a partially obscured temporary registration plate.

Holz observed that the first number of the plate was a “9,” while temporary plates issued by the state for the current year begin with a “0.” Based on this observation, the officer suspected the plate may have been forged. At that point, he initiated a motor vehicle stop.

Holz made contact with the vehicle’s male operator and female passenger. The operator reportedly claimed he had purchased the vehicle from another woman and that the temporary plates had come with it. Neither the operator nor the passenger were able to provide any documentation regarding the sale, according to the officer.

A subsequent records check found the operator did not possess a valid Rhode Island license and had two previously convictions for driving without/suspended license. Additionally, the registration number affixed to the vehicle was found to have expired in January and been associated with a 2015 Toyota RAV4.

Andre D. Prout, 36, 60 Whitmarsh St., Apt. 15, Providence, was arrested on charges of forgery/counterfeiting of registration plates and driving without/expired license, third or subsequent offense. He was transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing and later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

Prout was additionally cited for display of registration plates and operation of an unregistered vehicle.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

Shortly before noon on Feb. 25, Officer Kyle Fitzsimmons was conducting a routine patrol on Interstate 95 south when he observed a black Toyota Corolla traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer followed the vehicle and reports clocking it at an average speed of 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Fitzsimmons initiated a motor vehicle stop near exit 12B and made contact with the operator, who was found through a records check to have a suspended license and at least two prior convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Scott M. Baker, 53, 70 North Main St., Apt. 3, Woonsocket, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

Baker was additionally cited for speeding.
