DUI

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on April 12, officers responded to the area of 3314 West Shore Road for a report of a black Nissan operating erratically. Dispatch advised the vehicle was last seen in the area of Warwick Police headquarters on Memorial Drive.

Officer Michael Walker was in his vehicle at the entrance to headquarters when he observed a vehicle matching the suspect’s description. The vehicle was traveling west on Veterans Memorial Drive at a high rate of speed, the officer reports.

Walker pursued the vehicle and observed it pass through yield signs without yielding and cross over the double-yellow line on Toll Gate Road. He was able to initiate a motor vehicle stop in the area of Toll Gate and Craig roads.

Officer Kyle Palmer then arrived at the scene and made contact with the operator, who is said to have slurred his speech and exhibited “very bloodshot and watery eyes.” A “strong odor” of alcohol emanated from the man’s breath, according to Palmer, and he is said to have acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier that night.

The operator is said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which he reportedly failed.

Miguel F. Meyer, 29, 19 Maple Ave., Apt. E, West Warwick, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. While are headquarters, Meyer is said to have agreed to a chemical breath test, which reportedly found his blood alcohol content to be significantly above the legal limit.

Meyer was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, first offense. He was additionally cited for a laned roadway violation and failure to obey traffic control devices. He was held as a probation violator pending a court appearance.

STOLEN VEHICLE PARTS

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on April 10, Officer David Boardman responded to the Enterprise Rent-A-Car location on Senator Street regarding a report of damage to a vehicle.

At the scene, an employee told Boardman that sometime between April 8 and April 10, a headlight was stolen from a 2020 Toyota RAV4 parked in the storage lot off Post Road. The lot houses approximately 700 vehicles, the employee said.

No security camera footage was available. The matter was documented.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. on April 11, Office Gregory C. Accinno responded to a Venturi Avenue address for a report of a stolen catalytic converter.

At the scene, the reporting party told Accinno that the catalytic converter had been removed from his 2015 Ford E350 box truck at some point the previous night. The officer observed the damage and the matter was documented.

SHOPLIFTING

At approximately 3 p.m. on April 14, Officer Kyle Palmer responded to the Lowe’s store on Greenwich Avenue for a report of two male shoplifting suspects attempting to leave the store. Dispatch advised the suspects had taken wire from the store and were traveling in a silver Dodge vehicle, which had been stopped by another officer prior to Palmer’s arrival.

At the scene, a manager at the store told officers the suspects had been observed taking 20 rolls of wire from a shelf and concealing the rolls in a tote bag inside a carriage. The wire, which was recovered, had a value of approximately $840. The manager provided police with security camera footage.

Arthur Godette, 48, 47 Hall Ave., Providence, and Joshua Olsen, 31, 15 Broad St., Coventry, were each arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. Both were later released with summonses to appear in Third Division District Court.
