DUI
On March 23 at 12:41 a.m., Officer Meola observed a vehicle at a red light with its reverse lights illuminated. Officer Meola followed the suspect vehicle and observed it commit two laned roadway violations.
While traveling southbound onto Greenwich Ave., the vehicle made an abrupt right-hand turn into the shopping plaza at 555 Greenwich Ave., and struck the median, separating the enter and exit lanes, with its driver's side tires before accelerating at a high rate of speed behind Stop and Shop.
Meola located the vehicle emerging from behind Goldfish Swim School with a flat front passenger side tire and damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle.
When Meola made contact with the operator, he immediately identified the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the operator’s breath and observed his eyes to be severely bloodshot and watery and his eyelids to be heavy.
During this conversation, Officer Meola identified the driver’s speech to be severely thick tongued and slurred and he was unable to understand him as the driver spoke.
Meola asked the driver if he consumed any alcoholic beverages that night. The driver stated that he had he was at a birthday party at Sonesta Suites located on Kilvert St. and was now driving home to his address in Providence. The driver was charged with one count DUI of Liquor-.15 or greater- 1st Offense and was held overnight pending arraignment.
NO TRESPASS ORDER
On March 30 at 6:13 p.m., Officer DiPietro responded to Joann Stores (1500 Bald Hill Road). Dispatch advised that there was a customer who was refusing to leave the store and was screaming at staff.
Upon arrival, DiPietro made contact with the customer in question and asked her to step outside to speak with him. The customer was highly agitated and stated that she had attempted to purchase some items prior to the store closing.
She stated that when she was at the register, she realized that she had left her wallet in her vehicle. The customer stated that she asked the store clerk if she get her wallet in her car.
The customer stated that the clerk “gave her an attitude,” which upset her. DiPietro then spoke with the store clerk, who stated that the store closes at 6 p.m., and they were getting ready to close. The clerk stated that the customer was checking out at the register and became confrontational for no reason.
The clerk stated that the customer began yelling obscenities at her and was causing a disturbance.
The clerk stated that she did not wish to pursue a complaint, but did wish to have the customer issued a No Trespass order from the store. The customer was advised of the No Trespass order, to which she stated that she understood and left the scene.
