SHOPLIFTING

Just after 4 p.m. on Oct. 25, Officer Maxwell Neiley responded to the Macy’s store at the Warwick Mall for a report of a male shoplifting suspect in the custody of loss prevention.

At the scene, an asset protection detective at the store told Neiley he had observed the suspect carrying a backpack inside the store at approximately 3:40 p.m. that afternoon. The suspect is said to have selected a sweatshirt, removed its security sensor, concealed the item inside the sweatshirt he was wearing and exited the store without making any attempt to pay. At that point, the suspect was met by asset protection personnel and escorted back inside the store, where two stolen clothing items with a combined value of $197 – the sweatshirt and a pair of pants – were recovered.

Kalieshe Brown, 38, Attleboro, Massachusetts, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. ***

At approximately 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 29, Officer Tyler Stone and two other officers responded to the area of People’s Liquor Warehouse at 1350 Greenwich Ave. for a report of shoplifting.

Dispatch advised that the suspect had fled the area in a gray Toyota Camry. Prior to arrival at the liquor store, another officer had located and stopped the suspect vehicle.

At the liquor store, Stone spoke with two employees, who said the female suspect had selected two bottles of champagne with a combined value of $42.96 and concealed them within her purse. She also selected and paid for a bottle of wine, the employees said, but exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the concealed bottles.

Cynthia L. Giblin, 64, 35 Melbourn Road, Warwick, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters. She was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. ***

Just before 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, officers Jessica Masso and Michael Bailey responded to the Macy’s store at the Warwick Mall for a report of a shoplifting incident in progress. While en route, dispatch advised that a female suspect had left the store and left the immediate area in a silver SUV with Michigan registration plates.

Another officer located and detained the vehicle on Metro Center Boulevard. Masso responded to Macy’s and met with a loss prevention officer, who described two suspects, one male and one female. The loss prevention officer said the woman had taken jeans, women’s tops and baby items, while the man had taken men’s clothing. The suspects are said to have fled across the parking lot when loss prevention personnel met them at the store’s exit.

The loss prevention officer was then escorted to the scene where the suspect vehicle had been detained. There, the loss prevention officer identified the two suspects.

Saleeta N. Cross, 31, Malden, Massachusetts, and Keanu S. Armstead, 25, Milton, Massachusetts, were each arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. Each was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

VANDALISM

Just after 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, Officer Bruce Law responded to a Hillcrest Avenue home for a report of malicious damage that occurred the previous day.

At the scene, the reporting party told Law he had been at work at the Stop & Shop at 2470 Warwick Ave. between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Oct. 27. When he returned to his vehicle – a 2015 Dodge Dart – after the shift, he found “three of his four tires had been stabbed and were flat.”

The vehicle was towed back to the man’s home. Security camera footage from the scene was sought, and the matter was documented.

LARCENY

Just before 9 p.m. on Oct. 27, Officer Frank Montanaro took an online report of larceny.

Montanaro spoke by phone with the reporting party, who said she had gone to work at Elizabeth of Portofino restaurant at 897 Post Road at approximately 4 p.m. that day and parked her 2016 Jeep Wrangler in her usual spot in the parking lot. When she returned at the end of her shift around 8:45 p.m., she discovered her vehicle’s registration and insurance cards had been stolen, along with two pair of sunglasses and a house key.

No security camera footage was available. The matter was documented. ***

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 31, Officer Bruce Law responded to Salk’s Hardware & Marine at 2524 West Shore Road for a report of shoplifting.

At the scene, the assistant manager of the store told Law that according to a customer, “someone took trash cans that were for sale outside the front of the store and loaded them into their car and fled.” Law then spoke with the customer, who provided a description of the suspect and the vehicle, a beige or tan Volkswagen.

The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 27, Officer Michael Bailey was conducting a routine patrol heading southbound on Post Road when he observed a vehicle “switch lanes abruptly without using its turn signal.”

Bailey initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of Chelo’s and made contact with the operator, who was found through a records check to be wanted on an active bench warrant issued from Sixth Division District Court.

Adam A. Argueta, 21, 54 Arrowfield Road, Cranston, was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. While at headquarters, he was additionally charged with driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, based on prior convictions. He was later transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions. ***

At approximately 6:44 p.m. on Oct. 29, Officer Matthew Caradimos was traveling north on Bald Hill Road when he observed a vehicle with an expired temporary registration.

“While behind the vehicle, I observed the vehicle’s right turn signal activate; however, the operator did not give an ample amount of time before merging into the right lane, almost causing the vehicle maintaining that lane to rear end the vehicle,” the officer reports.

Caradimos initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the operator, who is said to have acknowledged his license was suspended. That was confirmed through a records check, which also showed the man had two previous convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Fernando R. Joseph, 29, 32 Railroad Row, Warwick, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.
