Waterside Thai Kitchen — new management, menu & moniker

Pawtuxet Village’s former Rim Nahm restaurant is now under new management with an expanded menu and a new name.

Waterside Thai Kitchen at 2212 Broad St., on the Cranston side of the Pawtuxet River bridge offers many new dishes for takeout, delivery and dining in.

Dining in the intimate space lives up to its new name, as tables line windows overlooking the river as it flows into Pawtuxet Cove.

There are 21 appetizers on the menu, beginning with spring rolls ($7) and ending with a delicacy called Golden Bag, deep fried wonton wrappers filled with pork, black mushrooms and scallions served with a sweet and sour sauce.

There are eight soups and five salads before you choose your entrée from 44 items. Among those 44 choices, you have the option of vegetarian or tofu, chicken, pork or beef, shrimp, squid or mussels, crispy chicken or shrimp, seafood or duck, making the combinations endless.

We chose takeout and the order was ready in 10 minutes.

I chose the coconut Pad Thai with shrimp, a tasty combination of medium sized shrimp, thin rice noodles, egg, bean sprouts coconut milk and meat, scallions and ground peanuts ($16). The huge portion allowed for lunch the next day.

Joyce chose Himmapan, large crispy shrimp with tempura batter, onions, tomatoes, pineapple chunks, cashews, scallions, and roasted peppers, served with steamed jasmine rice ($18).

We both enjoyed our meals and are pondering over what we will try next from the entrée list that features stir-fried, curry, pan-fried noodles, fried rice and 10 mouth-watering specialties.

Waterside Thai Kitchen’s phone number is 467-7897, or you can check out their website at watersidethai.com.
