By ALEX SPONSELLER The Warwick Continental American All-Star teams are continuing to grind through the state tournaments this week.

The 12’s fell to Smithfield 9-3 in the opening round, but rebounded to beat Riverside 6-1 in the first leg of the loser’s bracket. They would square off against Smithfield on Wednesday night with a win sending them to the state final against North Providence. The results were not available at press time.

The 11’s also opened the state tournament with a loss when they were shut out 10-0 by Lincoln.

Like the 12’s, they would go on to bounce back and beat Bristol 10-0 in the opening portion of the loser’s bracket.

Kenny George and Ryan Ingerson pitched for the 11’s and held Bristol to just one hit. Collin Freitas knocked in three runs while Brody Lomas scored three runs to lead the way on offense. George and Jonathan Langlais each had multi-hit games as well.

George finished with four strikeouts while Ingerson struck out six of the seven batters he faced.

The 11’s went on to beat Lincoln 4-1 the following game.

Freitas finished with three RBI while Mario Cerullo also added an RBI. Jackson Field and Brayden Randall each scored two runs for WCA as well.

Langlais pitched five innings and allowed no earned runs while striking out five batters and walking one. Ingerson closed the show in the sixth inning and picked up two strikeouts.

The 11’s went on to face Cranston Western in the state championship Wednesday night, but the results were not available at press time. A win would send the teams to the if game on Friday night.
