May 8 and June 12: Adventures in Acrylic workshops will be held from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Warwick Center for the Arts, 3259 Post Rd., Warwick. Each month artists will explore a different technique that can be applied to their acrylic painting practice which will enhance the narrative of their paintings. May 10: Vendor/Craft Sale, Plant Sale and Mini-Book Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Warwick Public Library at 600 Sandy Lane on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please come and support our library! 

 

May 10: 11th Annual “Crafting for Critters” Spring Bazaar from 10 a.m., to 3 p.m. at the Airport Professional Park, 2348 Post Road, Warwick, RI. Hosted by Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter. Admission and parking are free. The Bazaar is outdoors: please watch our social media for weather-related announcements.

 

May 14: Sound Bath: the St. Andrew Lutheran Church will be hosting a sound bath prayer service on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., at 15 East Beach Rd. in Charlestown. May 21: Something Fishy: Oasis Senior Advisors Rhode Island is hosting a free event for seniors with dementia at 175 Metro Center Blvd. Open to all seniors with memory care challenges and their care partners. This is an ongoing event that happens every Third Wednesday of the month.

 

May 22: Welcome Reception: the Warwick Village Common Steering Committee will host a welcome reception on Thursday at 10 a.m., at The Tri City Elks Lodge at 1915 West Shore Rd. May 31: Spring Fashion Show: the Open Table of Christ United Methodist Church will host a spring fashion show from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at 1520 Broad Street, Providence. $10 admission includes lunch and door prizes. Tickets are available at the Open Closet resale shop or email marykatheleencurtain@gmail.com. Tickets will also be available at the door. The Open Closet shop will be open after the show.

 

June 1: Chamber Orchestra of Barrington at St. John’s: the final concert of COBSJ’s 8th season will comprise of six small ensembles comprised of their musicians. It will be on Sunday at 3 p.m., at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Barrington.

 

June 5: Warwick Symphony Orchestra (WSO) will be joined by performers from Coffee Milk Opera and Community College of Rhode Island Music. This performance will be on Thursday at 7 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Church on 237 Garden Hills Dr. Tickets can be found on the website: wsori.org/performances or at the door. Conimicut Village Art Festival: the Conimicut Village Association is now accepting artist and maker applications for its annual Art Festival on Saturday, Oct. 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rain date: Sunday, Oct. 5. Artists are asked to be available for both dates. Space is limited, so don’t wait to apply. Original artwork will be reviewed by a jury committee and artists will be notified of their acceptance by July 15. NAMI-RI Offers Family Support Groups: The Rhode Island chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness offers free support groups for families and friends of loved ones struggling with mental health. Groups are led by trained facilitators with experience with family members. Meetings last 1.5 hours, and everyone gets a chance to share.
