The answer if you were at Confreda Fields Saturday morning is “rainbow.” Not only were students wearing multiple colors but so, too were teachers and the principal Frank Galligan from head to toe. They had blue hair, green faces spotted with red and yellow. The event was the school’s annual colorton when the kids run a race where at different stations along the way teachers hit them with a dusting of colored corn starch. And when the race was over there were more colored corn starch “shootings,” lots of them as students, teachers and dare say some parents got into the action. There was more to the event with food trucks, and inflatable slide. Organized by the PTA, the event has become the school’s major fundraiser thanks to the generosity of business sponsor and the fundraising of students. Principal Frank Galligan said previous PTA fundraising has enabled the school to get its wildcat mascot suit. He’s now thinking of new schools signs, flower beds and other improvements designed to “brand” the school. “They get the final say,” he said of the PTA. And as for the dominate color, well, it had to be green. The colorthon raised $30,000. (Warwick Beacon photos)
