Longtime Warwick North member Sean Wiggins received the league’s Lifetime Member Award on Monday evening at the pit, honoring him for 17 years of service across various roles in the league.
Wiggins grew up on Palm Boulevard and was a player for Warwick West Side Little League. From there, he began coaching in the league’s challenger division and would later get married to his wife, Jordan. He and Jordan had three sons, all of which played for North, which kept him in the fold.
He was key in the 2015 merger of West Side and Warwick National, which formed Warwick North in 2015. The league went on to reach the Little League World Series in 2016.
Wiggins served as president for several seasons before stepping down last October. He remains an active board member and is a member of the Warwick School Committee.
“Over the past decade, Sean has served our league in nearly every capacity imaginable – and most recently, he led us as league president for several years, stepping down in October, 2024. Yet, even after stepping aside from that role, his commitment to the youth of Warwick has never wavered,” said board member Shaun Galligan. “This recognition is not an annual occurrence, and it is the highest honor that we can bestow as a league.”
“I am sure I don’t deserve this honor, but I am overwhelmed that this league thought I was. I love this League, love the kids, and people I have had the opportunity to know in this organization, all of this is overwhelming!” said Wiggins on social media. “I remember every kid I coached, almost every game and I am just proud to have been a part of it all.”
