More than 200 runners converged on Cranston High School West Saturday for the 11th annual Will Speck Memorial 5K. The event honors the late Will Speck, a former Providence College runner who coached the track and cross country programs with CLCF. Proceeds benefit the Providence Ronald McDonald House and Cranston High School running programs. This year’s event included kids races and a middle school mile.
In the 5K, Gregory Payne of North Attleboro, Mass., took first place in a time of 16 minutes, 34 seconds. David Holgate of East Greenwich, David Pinsonneault of Seekonk, Mass., Adam Thies of Cranston and Norm Bouthillier of Exeter rounded out the top five. Katie Moulton of Providence finished seventh overall and was the top female finisher.
